Since we won our resolution in 2021, we have seen that the District is still failing immigrant newcomer youth and their families, while also simultaneously failing to adequately train and support teachers.
We have seen this through the following:
A Philly School Principal Threatened a Newcomer Youth with Deportation
Juntos survey responses from Educators demonstrating lack of District newcomer supports and failed Welcoming Schools Resolution implementation
July 2022
This survey was for parents and students to gauge their understand of how they could engage in their schools. As well for us to understand what kinds of supports families had in their schools.
March 2021
This survey was for teachers at various schools. This is what almost 350 educators and administrators in the Philadelphia School District know about ICE in schools.
