Community Organizing Intern

Description

JUNTOS is currently seeking a Community Organizing Intern to support the development of our multiple social justice campaigns. This position will be supervised by the Community Organizer and will require in-person activities in the office and in the South Philadelphia community. Through their work, the Intern will move between the following campaigns under our ICE Out of PA work: Shutting Down Moshannon, ICE Out of Courts, and  Driving PA Forward. They will also support our work that may still be in development. 

The Intern will be responsible for developing and translating political education materials and informational documents; preparing for community meetings; creating social media content; and expanding the base of the organization. The successful candidate will also support the overall programming and administrative needs of the organization’s ongoing campaigns.

A qualified applicant will have experience with canvassing, policy research and analysis, organizing in BIPOC communities and/or facilitation. This position will be primarily in-person with some remote opportunities.

Youth Programming Intern

Description

JUNTOS is currently seeking a Youth Programming Intern to support the development of our Sanctuary Schools campaign and contribute to the operation of our Fuerza and Poderosos youth programs. Under the supervision of the Youth Organizer, the Youth Programming Intern will be responsible for developing training materials and informational documents as part of a formal curriculum for Sanctuary Schools, translating documents from English to Spanish, helping prepare materials for community meetings, and helping facilitate Fuerza workshops. The successful candidate will also support the overall programming and administrative needs of the organization’s youth programming.

A qualified applicant will have experience with youth organizing and interacting with vulnerable communities, a strong desire to develop the leadership of our community’s youth, and strong communication and organizational skills that support development of a curriculum that will advocate for better schools for our city. This position will be primarily in-person with some virtual opportunities.

Community Care Intern

Description

JUNTOS is currently seeking a Community Care Intern to support our case work and contribute to the operation of our mutual aid and resource work. Under the supervision of the Community Care Team, the Community Care Intern will be responsible for supporting community outreach and mutual aid events, supporting casework follow-up, connecting with legal and medical partners for referrals, and developing materials and informational documents on local resources as part of our resource guide. A successful candidate will also support the overall programming and administrative needs of the organization’s community care branch.

A qualified applicant will have a familiarity and/or interest with existing resources and organizations supporting immigrant communities, experience interacting with vulnerable communities, and a strong desire to support Philly’s Spanish-speaking immigrant community members on a one on one basis. Additionally, the ideal applicant will have strong communication and organizational skills that support our ongoing case work and a level of sensitivity to support individuals in crisis. This position will be primarily in person.
